Viquity Demonstrates Power of Hub Technology In ebXML Proof-of-Concept

    SAN FRANCISCO--Dec. 12, 2000--

Viquity Joins a Host of Industry Leaders and Worldwide Standards Organizations to Demonstrate the Capabilities of ebXML

Viquity, the emerging leader for secure, reliable eBusiness connectivity services, announced its participation in today's ebXML proof of concept presentation, held in San Francisco.
Repeating last month's demonstration in Tokyo, today's presentation will provide the market a demonstration of ebXML as an open, viable standard, enabling the global use of the Internet to provide business information in an interoperable, secure and consistent manner.
Organized by The United Nations body for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business (UN/CEFACT) and the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS), the proof-of-concept helps standardize XML-based business document exchanges and allows organizations of all sizes to conduct their business with their trading partners electronically. Viquity and a host of other industry leaders, including Cisco, Fujitsu, IBM, Interwoven, IPNet, Netfish, NTT-COM, Savvion, Sterling Commerce, Sun Microsystems and XML Solutions, are showing various aspects of ebXML, including message transport, registry and repository, and trading partner agreements. Today's presentation will occur at the Mark Hopkins Hotel, in San Francisco, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (see ebXML release at www.ebXML.org).
The proof-of-concept relied on Viquity's Dynamic Commerce Network(TM) (DCN) to act as the hub, routing mission-critical documents between business partners. Other vendors involved participated as requesters or responders of XML business documents, such as purchase orders or shipping acknowledgements, exchanged through Viquity's Dynamic Commerce Network (DCN) to run their businesses. The diversity of vendors demonstrated the ability of the ebXML standard to ensure interoperability, which results in a range of benefits, such as lower integration costs and shorter implementation times between heterogeneous vendors and among vertical industries. In Tokyo, realistic trading scenarios were shown from the retail (Global Commerce Initiative) and automotive (Automotive Industry Action Group) industries. The San Francisco proof-of-concept focuses on the automotive scenario.
"Viquity is pleased once again to participate in the development of this evolutionary technology and emerging industry standard," said Viquity's Chief Architect, Philippe De Smedt. "Demonstrating the neutrality of ebXML, Viquity is excited to work with the other vendors to demonstrate ebXML being applied to two major industries. Viquity will continue to work with today's emerging standards bodies to ensure that its products are open, scalable and secure."
The Viquity DCN provides an eBusiness platform for providing safe, reliable managed connectivity between the business systems of trading partners over the Internet. Viquity provides a secure infrastructure to support inter-enterprise supply chain, materials management, and product development collaboration. The Viquity Dynamic Commerce Network incorporates two core technologies: a guaranteed-delivery Internet document transport service, Viquity Basis(TM), and an intelligent management hub, Viquity Nexus(TM). Private commerce networks hosted on the Viquity infrastructure can rapidly add and change supply chain partners, can easily include partners of all sizes and levels of sophistication, and can inter-operate across the various emerging XML standards, existing legacy standards, and proprietary interfaces. Viquity's patent-pending security architecture enables mission-critical documents to pass safely to and from your business systems with no changes needed to your firewall.
