Ward's Reports Estimated Production
    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Dec. 8 Vehicle production this week in
the U.S., Canada and Mexico is expected to hit an estimated 372,597 units, up
from the 352,170 cars and trucks built last week, according to Ward's
Automotive Reports.
    Including this week's estimates, calendar year North American output now
totals 17,120,751 vehicles, up 1.0 percent from like-1999's pace.
    In the U.S., automakers are expected to produce 265,678 vehicles this
week, an increase of 2.5 percent from the 259,263 cars and trucks built last
week.  To date, calendar 2000 U.S. vehicle output totals an estimated
12,398,447 units, down 1.1 percent from the 12,535,587 vehicles built in like-
1999.
    This week's Canadian vehicle production is estimated at 64,174, a 12.7
percent increase from the 56,931 units assembled last week.  Estimated
calendar-2000 Canadian vehicle production now stands at 2,873,112 units, down
2.0 percent compared to the 2,930,483 vehicles produced in like-1999.
    Of the cars and trucks slated for production this week in the U.S.,
General Motors Corp. accounted for 34.3 percent; Ford Motor Co., 28.9 percent;
Chrysler of DaimlerChrysler, 13.5 percent; Honda of America Mfg. Inc., 5.1
percent; Toyota Motor Mfg. Inc., 5.0 percent; Nissan Motor Mfg. Corp., 2.9
percent; New United Motor Mfg. Inc., 2.7 percent; Subaru-Isuzu Automotive
Inc., 1.8 percent; Mitsubishi Motor Mfg. of America Inc., 1.9 percent;
AutoAlliance International Inc., 0.8 percent; Mercedes-Benz U.S. of
DaimlerChrysler, 0.6 percent; BMW of North America Inc., 0.8 percent; and
other manufacturers, 1.7 percent.
