Dana Corporation and Buehler Motor Form Strategic Alliance to Develop Advanced Motors and ControlsTOLEDO, Ohio and CARY, N.C., Dec. 7 Dana Corporation and Buehler Motor Inc. announced today that they have formed a product development and supply agreement to provide advanced automotive motor- module technologies and manufacturing expertise to support under-the-hood and under-the-vehicle applications. Through this alliance, Dana's Motors and Controls Division and Buehler Motor Inc. will jointly develop and provide components for integrated controls with motor-driven actuation. Buehler Motor will complement Dana Motors and Controls Division's already existing switched-reluctance and DC motor and control technology with expanded DC motor capabilities, along with expertise in miniature precision gear assemblies and high-volume manufacture. In return, Dana Motors and Controls will provide Buehler Motor with the ability to leverage Dana's presence in passenger car, light truck, and heavy truck segments, along with key customer contacts and low-cost manufacturing. The companies currently have identified three near-term market opportunities and will focus their combined activities on these and future targeted sub-system and module applications that fit both companies' motor- module competencies.
