Collins & Aikman Receives ``Best of Troy'' Award

    TROY, Mich.--Dec. 7, 2000--Collins & Aikman Corporation announced today that it is a recipient of a "2000 Best of Troy" Award from the Troy Chamber Commerce.
    The award, which was bestowed on twelve companies this year, recognizes the overall architectural design and property improvements that local companies have made to enhance the Troy community. The award ceremony took place at the Chamber's annual membership luncheon. In addition to recognizing local companies' investment into the community, the Chamber also recognized one of metro Detroit's legends -- the voice of Detroit Tiger Baseball -- Mr. Ernie Harwell.
    Rod Hanks, Vice President of Human Resources for Collins & Aikman accepted the award on behalf of the Company. Also on hand at the ceremony were Mike Pudist of Minoru Yamasaki Associates, Inc., and Ms. Jan Purcell of Albert Kahn & Associates. Yamasaki Associates was the primary architect, Campbell/Manix was the construction firm and Purcell headed the interior design team for the new global headquarters building.
    Commenting on the award, Hanks noted, "This is truly an honor for Collins & Aikman. Earlier this year, we inaugurated our new global headquarters and signaled our official relocation to the City of Troy, and receiving this recognition is a terrific way to wrap up 2000. As a leading global automotive supplier, we recognized the importance of relocating to the heart of the automotive industry and with the dedication and professionalism of Yamasaki and Albert Kahn, the move was easy." Collins & Aikman's 60,000-sq.-ft. global headquarters was completed in December 1999 and currently houses approximately 150 employees.
