    CANTON, Ohio, Dec. 7 The Timken Company announced
Wednesday, December 6, the recipients of its highest corporate distinction,
the Dedication to Excellence Award. Presented twice yearly, the award
recognizes the continuous improvements associates achieve in building customer
satisfaction and shareholder value.

    "Through continuous improvement, these associates have implemented the
best solutions for The Timken Company's customers.  Their accomplishments help
enable Timken to achieve profitable growth," said Jim Griffith, president and
chief operating officer.  "Their dedication to excellence will translate into
improved value for our customers and fuel the growth of our automotive,
aerospace and super precision, industrial, rail, alloy steel, precision steel
components and specialty steel businesses worldwide."
    The award was presented to the following associates who have achieved
exceptional results through specific job-related duties.
    Emerging Markets-Timken India Limited: Amit D. Banerjee, Ajay K. Das,
Anando Das, and Amit Kumar; for developing a holographic packaging pouch that
can't be counterfeited, is tamper proof, increases shelf life of the product
and thus minimizes the menace of counterfeit and ultimately protects the brand
integrity of Timken.
    Automotive-Altavista/Gaffney Bearing Plants: Michael W. Baines, Debra L.
Burnside, Melanie K. Capuano, Michael A. Gromosiak, Christopher W. Henson,
Vicki J. Jones, Keith T. Lackey, Shelba P. Lovelace, Jeffrey C. McDonald,
Blake L. Scanlon, Jimmie G. Trent, Matthew B. Turi, Michael E. Walton; for
their efforts in accelerating bearing assembly production and delivering a
total of 65,300 bearing products to our largest customers within a three-week
time frame, keeping them in production and preventing line shutdown.
    Industrial-Gambrinus Bearing Plant: Jimmie E. Humble, Katherine R. Hylton,
Kevin J. Ryan and M. Duane Smith; for introducing a new additive into the
coolant systems of the machine which improves its efficiencies, decreases
rejection and sorting time, reduces scrap and results in increased customer
satisfaction levels.
    Rail-Friction Management Services, LLC: Nathan D. Bailey, Robert G.
Bourquin, II, John F. Erme, Charles E. Guthrie, John C. Hare, Roger A. Herbst,
Janine M. O'Wesney, Kimberly S. Palmer, Elaine M. Russell Reolfi, Theresa A.
Roman, Beverly S. Schick, Amy R. Zebrowski; for quickly capitalizing on a
growth opportunity by creating a new joint venture company and launching a new
top-of-rail lubrication system in a very short timeframe.
    Steel-Timken Latrobe: Gary W. Black, Eric J. Janoscrat, Mace W. Maxwell,
Frank J. Richter, Edward T. Wilkinson; for their efforts in consolidating into
a one furnace melting system running on three shifts for a savings of $320,00
and resulting in improved productivity levels of 20 percent.
    Industrial-Roller and Cage Manufacturing: Patrick G. Crowe, Kevin R.
Conley, John A. Hawkins, Sharyn K. Kitzmiller, Richard L. Strickland, Joseph
S. Tabellion, Leroy A. Workinger; for evaluating, testing and installing a new
1,500 ton press transfer system resulting in a $158,000 savings per year.
    Precision Steel Components: Pamela S. Clawson, Timothy S. Claybaugh,
Frederick R. Cook, Floyd W. Cross, Timothy R. Haubenstricker, Jeffrey J.
Jones, Jacqueline K. Jorden, Traci L. Libby, Rick Morris, Thomas E. Stone,
Daniel E. Sutter, James F. Trexel, Eric L. Walsky, Diane M. Weisburn; for
their efforts in converting $10 million of tubing business into $30 million of
components business with DaimlerChrysler with anticipated future growth to
$50 million.
    E-Business-Supply Chain Management and Aftermarket Distribution Teams:
Kelly S. Brush, Dale E. Everhart Jr., J. Barry Harris, James R. Lindesmith;
for initiating collaboration with seven peer suppliers to jointly study
e-business opportunities and issues within the North American automotive
industry.
    Automotive-Lincolnton Bearing Plant: Grady S. Fredell, H. Dean
Huffstetler, William D. Kiefer Jr., Jerry C.  McClure, Gary C. Neal Jr., Mark
C. Patterson, Mark S. Patterson, Mark D. Rosenlieb, Leonard F. Shelby Jr.,
Michael W. Sigmon and Bruce J. Tilley; for their efforts in conceiving,
engineering, testing and installing a new quick changeover-loader.  The new
loader allows the operator to remove only one part instead of six parts,
reducing setup and load cycles.  It eliminates repetitive movements and
reduces tooling inventories.
    Alloy Steel-Harrison Steel Plant: Jay L. Bixler, Danny L. Dorak, Richard
F. Essik, Peter C. Glaws, Rodney D. Haldeman, Mark F. Hickman, Robert A.
Iussa, Robert J. Krob, Michael E. Littleton, Robert A. Ossler, Rick A.
Papaleo, James A. Sanders, Mark S. Stevenson, Gary L. Thompson, John C. Wei;
for developing and implementing newly designed porous plates that minimize
clogging, thus increasing the life of the equipment and producing a savings of
$2.4 million.
