The Shape of Honda's Future? TheCarConnection.com Provides the First Look at The Next-Generation Acura Integra and Honda's Quirky Crossover, the Model X
DETROIT, Dec. 7 Honda is a company that has always played
by its own rules, and the Model X is the latest example. TheCarConnection.com
provides the first look at the quirky crossover vehicle that will make its
normal debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next
month -- as well as the thinly-disguised concept car that gives a good idea of
what the next-generation Acura Integra will look like.
You might call the Model X too cool to categorize, but it's got the
functionality of a minivan with the styling of a funky SUV. The interior
offers fully flexible seating and enough room, Honda officials reveal, to stow
a 10-foot surfboard. For the moment, Model X is just a concept vehicle, but
"it has real production potential," acknowledges Honda's top American
executive, Tom Elliott. Don't be surprised to see it in the line-up by 2003.
But you can get a glimpse of what it will look like now on

TCC also unveils the Acura RS-X, another concept car set for introduction
in Detroit next month. The sleek three-door features aggressive styling and
breakthrough engine technology. The Honda i-VTEC engine is the latest update
of the low-emission, fuel-efficient VTEC engine. The "i," Honda officials
explain, stands for "intelligent," and the new engine will be even cleaner and
greener, due to its ability to adapt to a wide range of driving conditions.
