NewLogic First to Qualify Bluetooth IP Core

LUSTENAU, Austria--Dec. 6, 2000--NewLogic announced today that it has successfully completed qualification of its BOOST Bluetooth baseband processor core and firmware.
This is believed to be the first such qualification of Bluetooth intellectual property (IP).
The qualification tests on the Baseband core and lower level protocol stack were undertaken at 7 Layers AG in Ratingen, Germany, a Bluetooth Qualification Test Facility (BQTF), with final approval granted by Mr. Volker Propach, 7 Layers Bluetooth Qualification Body (BQB).
"We are proud to reach this qualification milestone," said Dr. Gianmaria Mazzucchelli, Managing Director of NewLogic's R&D facility in Sophia Antipolis, France. "You can learn a lot about Bluetooth interoperability at the Unplug Fests, but it is only when an independent test house has examined your product in great detail and given its blessing can you tell your customers with full confidence that you offer guaranteed interoperability."
The BOOST Core is the one of three Bluetooth IP products from NewLogic, a leading innovator in the field of intellectual property (IP) for wireless technologies. Other products in the BOOST IP family include a full Bluetooth software protocol stack and a Bluetooth CMOS radio. These IP elements, when combined with a suitable microcontroller core, permit the implementation of a single chip Bluetooth solution using industry standard CMOS process technologies.
"Our BOOST IP products enable designers to integrate Bluetooth functionality into their ASIC and ASSP based products with a minimum of fuss or risk," said Mr. Hans-Peter Metzler, President and CEO of NewLogic. "System designers can concentrate on their products and time-to-market challenges knowing that they can simply incorporate Bluetooth capability from a proven IP library."
Bluetooth wireless technology is the new cordless standard adopted by more than 1900 companies throughout the world to link portable devices to mobile phones and PCs. It has spurred an unprecedented enthusiasm within the PC and communications industries. Its promises of small size, low-cost and interoperability have fuelled a burst of new ideas and applications possibilities.
NewLogic is a leading provider of intellectual property and IC design services. Their comprehensive IP portfolio includes embedded non-volatile memory, DSP, mixed signal and RF cores for the communications, information and automotive electronics markets.
