Australia to Lose $A500 Million Holden Plant to US? just-auto.com ReportsLONDON, Dec. 6 http://www.just-auto.com -- After competing against the US for several months, Australia could miss out on a $A500 million investment by Holden. The Australian outpost of General Motors has been bidding for a new V6 engine plant but the report at http://just-auto.com/news_detail.asp?art=20402 says that the investment may go to North America rather than Australia. Victorian Premier Steve Bracks seems nervous about the final decision that is due next week. Quoted in the Age Newspaper he said, "They have the capacity in the United States to do this sort of facility, so we are not counting any chickens before they have hatched."
