Quantech Ltd. and Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation Expand Relationship
EAGAN, Minn., Dec. 5 Quantech Ltd. (OTC Bulletin Board: QQQQ), today announced that Mitsubishi
Chemical Corporation of Japan has completed a technology evaluation of
Quantech's system with very positive results. Mitsubishi conducted an
extensive evaluation of Quantech's FasTraQ(TM) Emergency Department Patient
Testing System and underlying SPR technology to determine their interest in
distributing Quantech products in Japan. As a result of the completion of
this evaluation Quantech and Mitsubishi have entered into an instrument
purchase and standstill agreement.
The parties are completing negotiations whereby Mitsubishi will obtain
exclusive distribution rights to Quantech products in Japan and Quantech will
receive the exclusive right to distribute any Mitsubishi products derived from
the Quantech technology in non-Pacific rim countries. Mitsubishi is also
making an investment in Quantech. The companies will also work closely to
expand the SPR technology and the menu of tests to be made available on the
FasTraQ system.
"We are very excited about the outcome of the Mitsubishi technical
evaluation," said Robert Case, chief executive officer of Quantech. "We now
have additional validation of not only our grating coupled SPR technology but
the FasTraQ instrument, test menu and emergency treatment process improvement.
The quality of our partner in Japan will provide exceptional market
penetration and continued cutting-edge technical improvements."
