SDRC Restructures to Focus on e-Business and Alliance Initiatives; Organizational Changes to Strengthen SDRC's Strategic Vision for e-Business and Alliance Initiatives
CINCINNATI--Dec. 4, 2000--SDRC , a global supplier of e-business collaboration solutions for the product lifecycle, today announced organizational changes focused on accelerating the company's e-business initiatives and strategic thrust into collaborative product commerce (CPC).The company is reengineering its existing business units, product development, and marketing organizations to strengthen its capabilities in the emerging collaborative solutions market, as well as extending its market reach through key business and technology alliances. Concurrently, the organizational changes provide a strengthened focus on the company's mechanical design automation (MDA) sector.
"As we refine our vision and strategy to be successful in the collaborative product development market, it is necessary to continually align resources and organizational structure to address the resulting requirements and opportunities," said Bill Weyand, chairman and CEO, SDRC. "During the past year, we have released several collaborative product commerce products, including open solutions like Accelis(TM), Metaphase(R) Express and I-DEAS(R) 8. This restructuring and aggressive realignment of the corporation reflects our commitment to realize our strategic vision and market leadership goals in CPC."

The following organizational structure will report to Wienkoop:
-- | Ronald G. Schmitz will assume overall e-business responsibility to include SDRC's e-Collaborative Products Group as well as continuing in his role as Vice President and General Manager of the e-Business Integration Group (SDRC's Accelis(TM) product). |
-- | James W. Rusk, as Vice President and General Manager, e-MDA Products Group, will lead a newly consolidated and integrated MDA group with responsibility to increase MDA focus, as well as to take all of the company's CAD/CAM/CAE products and technologies into a web-centric architecture. |
-- | Cynthia S. White will continue in her current position as Vice President and General Manager, e-Product Knowledge Management (e-PKM) Business Group, with complete responsibility for SDRC's Metaphase(R) and SLATE(TM) solutions. |

Carrelli moves to a new executive staff responsibility as Corporate Vice President for Market and Business Development, creating a new organization specifically chartered to seek out and build strategic alliances, develop new market opportunities, and identify and drive acquisitions to complement the company's e-business strategy. |
-- | Max E. Utter will assume responsibility as Vice President, Corporate Marketing with continuing responsibility for e-PKM Marketing. Utter's expertise in e-business marketing will be particularly applicable to his new responsibilities including corporate strategic marketing, marketing communications, and sales support and training programs. |
