U. S. Steel Names John B. Peters General Manager of AutomotiveTROY, Mich., Dec. 4 Paul J. Wilhelm, president of U. S. Steel Group , a unit of USX Corporation, today announced the appointment of John B. Peters as general manager-automotive, effective January 1, 2001. Peters succeeds J. James Kutka, Jr., who was named vice president-sales, sheet products for U. S. Steel. In his new assignment, Peters will oversee automotive sales and marketing, and the company's state-of-the-art 14,000-square-foot steel automotive applications facility in Troy, Mich. Peters, who holds a bachelor's degree in finance from Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind., began his career with U. S. Steel in 1985 as a management associate in Houston, Texas. He moved through a series of increasingly responsible sales positions in tubular products before moving to automotive sheet sales in 1991 where he worked with both Chrysler and Ford. In 1994 he was named a manager-marketing for sheet products in Pittsburgh. In 1996, Peters was named district sales manager-Troy and is currently the manager of sales and service for the General Motors account. Peters and his wife, Margaret, make their home in Beverly Hills, Mich. They have two children, Michael and Katherine. (For more information on U. S.
