4 December 2000
American Honda Sales Set November RecordTORRANCE, Calif., Dec. 1 American Honda Motor Co., Inc., set a new November sales record of 80,849, up 3.5 percent, as light truck sales also set a record for the month, up 9 percent to 21,567. Acura Division sales of 12,902 jumped 44.6 percent from last year on the strength of the all-new MDX luxury sport utility vehicle and topped the previous Acura record for the month set in 1991. Honda Odyssey sales also set a November at 9,737, up 2.3 percent. Honda Civic sales were up 4.5 percent to 21,074 as availability of the all-new model began to improve. "Our record sales month was more an indication of strong demand for some hot products that we're fortunate to have, than the overall strength of the market," said Dick Colliver, American Honda executive vice president. "The overall market has slipped into neutral and there is not a lot of forward motion right now." Year-to-date American Honda sales of 1,070,825 are running 8 percent ahead of last year's all-time record pace.
