The Chrysler Brand Teams Up with the Women's Sports Foundation(R) and ABC To Sponsor the First of its Kind Women Sports Television SpecialAUBURN HILLS, Mich., Dec. 1 Next Saturday afternoon, television viewers will have the chance to tune into an action-packed look at today's women athletes and their achievements. The Chrysler brand teams up with the Women's Sports Foundation, ABC, and Freewheelin' Film, Ltd. & Action Sports Adventure Production for the first of its kind special television program: "Game for Anything: The Strength of Women in Sports." The network premiere of "Game for Anything: The Strength of Women in Sports" is Saturday, December 9 at 4 p.m. EST on ABC. Hosted by Academy-Award winning actress Holly Hunter, "Game for Anything" is an exciting hour-long ABC television-network special about the passion female athletes have for their sports and the strength and determination they possess. It looks at the challenges female athletes have overcome during the past 20 years and the expanding opportunities that lie ahead for women in sports. "It is rewarding to sponsor a program that will offer inspiration to young women by highlighting the accomplishments of women athletes today," said Thomas Marinelli, Vice President, Chrysler/Jeep(R) Global Brand Center, DaimlerChrysler Corporation. "Women are a dominant force in the sports arena and whether it's an individual in a community competition or a national soccer team, 'Game for Anything' highlights both their accomplishments and heartbreaks." This special answers such questions as: What drives a beauty queen into the boxing ring? Can you become an athlete at age 35? What does it feel like to run mile after mile until -- 100 miles later -- you've crossed the finish line? "It used to be that when you said 'women's sports' you thought of an elegant figure skater, Olympic gymnasts, LPGA golfers or WTA tennis players," said Women's Sports Foundation President Nancy Lieberman-Cline. "Women's sports wears so many more interesting hats now -- from weight lifters and pole vaulters to extreme sports players and wrestlers. There are no limits on what female athletes can do." From young aspirants to late bloomers, from elite levels as well as recreational athletes, "Game for Anything" captures women as they engage in sports as diverse as the athletes themselves: rock climber Lynn Hill, Indy race-car driver Sarah Fischer, Championship bull rider Lisa Stipp and boxing champion Linda Carrillo. Personal interviews of featured athletes that allow the audience insight into each woman's sense of their sport, their spirit, their strength and their drive. "The history of women's sports has been one of restrictions," said Women's Sports Foundation Executive Director Donna Lopiano. "This television special celebrates the achievements and advancements of female athletes who are changing the old stereotypes of what female athletes can do and sends positive messages that girls can and do play with boys. The Foundation's hope is that every girl and her parent knows that there are no limits to a girl's dreams of what sports she can play."
