Best Sales Year in Mitsubishi Motors' History Led by New Models; YTD Sales Up 23.8%

    CYPRESS, Calif., Dec. 1 Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America,
Inc. (MMSA) reported November record sales of the all-new Montero luxury SUV
and the redesigned Eclipse Spyder convertible.  Montero was up 326%, the
Spyder increased 45.7%, while the Galant mid-sized sedan was up 30.2%.
Mitsubishi monthly sales totaled 26,015 for a year-to-date total of 289,705.
    This 23.8% year-to-date sales increase sets Mitsubishi firmly on track to
top 300,000 by year-end, a new company record.
    "Our all-new Montero and Eclipse Spyder appeal to buyers seeking fresh,
exciting products," said Pierre Gagnon, MMSA executive vice president and
chief operating officer.  "Despite indications of consumer caution, our
annualized sales pace remains strong and we look forward to establishing a new
all-time sales record for Mitsubishi in the United States in 2000."

    Mitsubishi sales numbers of note:

    -- Best-ever November for Montero with 2,532 units sold, up 326%
       over November, 1999

    -- Best-ever November for Eclipse Spyder with 3,862 units sold, up
       45.7% over November, 1999

    -- Best-ever November for Galant with 9,077 units sold, up 30.2%
       over November, 1999
