Subaru of America, Inc. Announces November Sales
          Best November Ever for Outback and Forester; Brand on Pace
                     For Best Total Sales Year Since 1987

    CHERRY HILL, N.J., Dec. 1 Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA)
today announced sales figures for the month of November.  Subaru recorded a
sales total of 14,241 units for the month, little changed from 1999 figures of
14,245 units for the same period.  Strong sales momentum for Subaru All-Wheel
Drive vehicles continues, with year-to-date totals of 157,485 units, up
10 percent from 1999 year-to-date totals of 143,762 units.  Subaru remains on
pace for its best year in the United States since 1987.
    The Legacy model line achieved a sales total of 8,603 units, down slightly
from November 1999 totals of 8,700 units for the same period.  Outback
accounted for 6,360 units for the month, an increase of 4 percent from
November 1999 totals and the best ever November for this model.  Strong demand
for the award-winning Subaru Forester continued with sales of 4,205 units for
the month, also a November best for this popular model.  Additionally, Impreza
sales for the period totaled 1,433 units, with Impreza sedan and coupe sales
up 32 and 16 percent respectively.
