BMW Reports Best Month Ever; Vehicle Sales Jump 31 Percent Year-to-date Sales Strong, With 19 Percent Increase
WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., Dec. 1 BMW of North America, Inc.
reported its best month ever in the U.S. market, with November sales of 17,551
vehicles, an increase of 31 percent compared to the 13,422 vehicles sold a
year ago. BMW also reported year-to-date sales of 168,703, an increase of
19 percent over the 141,876 sold in the same period on 1999.
"This is BMW's 26th consecutive record-breaking month, and demand
continues to outweigh supply," explained Tom Purves, chairman and CEO of BMW
(US) Holding Corp. "With all-wheel-drive becoming available in the 3 Series,
we're projecting continued sales strength through the winter."
Automobile sales
BMW reported monthly automobile sales of 14,143 in November, up 5 percent
over the 13,422 automobiles reported a year ago. Automobile sales increased
3 percent year-to-date, to 146,238 compared to 141,876 in 1999.
Sports Activity Vehicle Sales
Sports Activity Vehicle sales in November were 3,408 and year-to-date, BMW
reported SAV sales of 22,465.
Certified Pre-owned Vehicle Sales
BMW also reported phenomenal sales of its Certified Pre-owned (CPO)
vehicles with November sales of 3,197, up 19 percent over last year.
Year-to-date, BMW reported CPO sales of 41,459, an increase of 59 percent
becoming the first luxury marque to report year-to-date sales over 40,000.
