Ward's Reports Estimated Production
    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Dec. 1 Vehicle production this week in
the U.S., Canada and Mexico is expected to hit an estimated 349,331 units, up
from the 247,227 cars and trucks built last week, according to Ward's
Automotive Reports.
    Including this week's estimates, calendar year North American output now
totals 16,727,424 vehicles, up 1.1 percent from like-1999's pace.
    In the U.S., automakers are expected to produce 249,985 vehicles this
week, an increase of 69.7 percent from the 147,286 cars and trucks built last
week.  To date, calendar 2000 U.S. vehicle output totals an estimated
12,108,538 units, down 1.1 percent from the 12,239,812 vehicles built in like-
1999.
    This week's Canadian vehicle production is estimated at 56,425, a
7 percent decrease from the 60,670 units assembled last week.  Estimated
calendar-2000 Canadian vehicle production now stands at 2,804,790 units, down
2 percent compared to the 2,862,211 vehicles produced in like-1999.
    Of the cars and trucks slated for production this week in the U.S.,
General Motors Corp. accounted for 36.3 percent; Ford Motor Co., 29.4 percent;
Chrysler of DaimlerChrysler, 9.5 percent; Honda of America Mfg. Inc., 5.3
percent; Toyota Motor Mfg. Inc., 5.1 percent; Nissan Motor Mfg. Corp., 3.2
percent; New United Motor Mfg. Inc., 3.1 percent; Subaru-Isuzu Automotive
Inc., 1.7 percent; Mitsubishi Motor Mfg. of America Inc., 2.0 percent;
AutoAlliance International Inc., 0.8 percent; Mercedes-Benz U.S. of
DaimlerChrysler, 0.8 percent; BMW of North America Inc., 0.8 percent; and
other manufacturers, 2.0 percent.
