DaimlerChrysler Corporation Announces November Sales & December Production Schedule
    AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Dec. 1 DaimlerChrysler Corporation
reported November U.S. sales of 184,065 vehicles, down 5-percent compared to
November 1999.
    Sport Utility Vehicle sales of 62,461 units were up 6-percent, truck sales
of 138,106 units dropped slightly by 2-percent, car sales of 45,959 dipped
15-percent, and minivan sales of 28,902 dropped 16-percent.
    "The industry is dealing with a highly competitive, saturated marketplace
today," said Dieter Zetsche, President and CEO of DaimlerChrysler Corporation.
"The combination of a softening market and an excess of inventory requires
immediate action."
    Accordingly, DaimlerChrysler Corporation also announces today that of its
12 U.S. and Canadian assembly plants, the company will operate:

    *  10 facilities the week of December 4, 2000
    *  11 facilities the week of December 11 and
    *   7 facilities the week of December 18.

    "As we work together with our employees, unions, suppliers, dealers and
customers to realize the full potential of the Chrysler Group, we need to
watch our vehicle inventory closely in this competitive market and adjust our
production schedule accordingly," said Zetsche.  "Moving forward, we will
continue to offer exciting vehicles and innovative, segment-defining products,
and we will continue work to improve our operational efficiency."

    Week of December 4, 2000:  The Newark (DE) and St. Louis North (MO)
Assembly Plants will not operate.
    Week of December 11, 2000: The Pillette Assembly Plant (Windsor, Ontario)
will not operate.
    Week of December 18, 2000: The Belvidere (IL), Bramalea (Brampton,
Ontario), Jefferson North (Detroit), St. Louis North (MO) and Toledo (OH)
Assembly Plants will not operate.
