Salomon Launches 2nd Year of the Oasis Project With Volvo as Newest PartnerCarmaker to Showcase Two New Vehicles Targeted to Outdoor Sports Enthusiasts Motrin to Feature Relief Station in Conjunction with Campaign Launch PORTLAND, Ore., Nov. 30 Salomon North America proudly announces their new partnership with Volvo Cars of North America in the Salomon Oasis Project, the yearlong "experiential" marketing campaign aimed at winter sports enthusiasts. In its second year, the Salomon Oasis Project will visit 15 top resorts throughout North America, offering skiers and snowboarders the unique opportunity to test-ride the latest in snowboards, snowblades and skis from Salomon. Volvo, joining Motrin(R) as a headline Oasis partner, will be on site at all locations with its S60 sedan and Cross Country all-wheel drive hybrid wagon. Motrin, a partner since the campaign's introduction in 1999, will showcase its Motrin Relief Station at each mountain site, providing participants with "Safe Sports Tips" and the opportunity to treat those muscle aches and pain. "We're looking forward to the second year of success for the Salomon Oasis Project," says Bryan Johnston, vice president of Marketing for Salomon North America. "In partnering with Volvo and Motrin, we're able to create a complete experience for consumers who are passionate about the outdoors. We're connecting with those who want to lead the active outdoor lifestyle and equipping them to live it fully." This winter, the Salomon Oasis Project will visit 15 world-class resorts beginning December 2-3 at Winter Park Resort, Winter Park, CO. Onsite, Oasis features four domed pavilions, linked together to form a 100' footprint that is situated at the base of the host mountain's busiest lift. In addition, Salomon soon will introduce a spring and summer event component to complement the Oasis winter schedule. "By creating a value added experience for resort visitors, we're drawing consumers to the mountain," continues Johnston. "Skiers and snowboarders love that they cannot only see, but test, the latest ski and snowboard technology in their own environment." At each Oasis stop, Volvo will showcase its new S60 European sports sedan and all-new Cross Country sports wagon with vehicles and a team of product specialists. Oasis visitors will also receive coupons, redeemable at Volvo dealerships nation-wide, for a pair of Snowclogs -- Salomon's ultra-successful winter outdoor shoes. "The Salomon Oasis Project is a natural fit for the Volvo brand and the consumer we had in mind when designing the S60 and Cross Country," says Peter Wexler, partnerships marketing manager for Volvo Cars of North America. "Both Salomon and Volvo are considered premium brands that appeal to similar consumers. It's a natural fit. Through Oasis, we're reaching out to those who are pursuing an active, adventurous lifestyle, enjoy the outdoors and care about the environment. At the same time, we're also targeting those who, until now, may have only aspired to be that. This partnership allows us to bring our products out to the modern consumer who is looking for a car that represents that way of life." Designed to help Oasis participants reach and maintain pain-free, peak performance on the slopes, the Motrin Relief Stations will offer wellness tips and free samples of Motrin IB. "We're here to reinforce the message that Motrin enables consumers to do more of the things they love by not letting pain slow them down," says Scott Snyder, Franchise Director. "Motrin's positioning, 'For People Who Don't Fool Around with Pain,' is all about getting to the pain before the pain gets to you. Oasis is an ideal platform to reach the active and enthusiastic audience that fits so well with Motrin's empowering brand character. Our goal is to join sports enthusiasts on the slopes and demonstrate how Motrin products help people get the most out of life." 2000-2001 SALOMON OASIS PROJECT SCHEDULE Resort Location Dates Winter Park Winter Park, CO Dec. 2-3, 2000 Copper Mountain Frisco, CO Dec. 17-18, 2000 Brighton Brighton, UT Jan. 3-4, 2001 Vail Vail, CO Jan. 13-15, 2001 Boyne Mountain Boyne, MI Jan. 20-21, 2001 Snowshoe Mountain Snowshoe, WV Jan. 27-28, 2001 Mountain Creek Vernon, NJ Feb. 3-4, 2001 Stratton Mountain South Londonderry, VT Feb. 10-11, 2001 Waterville Valley Waterville Valley, NH Feb. 17-18, 2001 Okemo Mountain Ludlow, VT Feb. 21-22, 2001 Copper Mountain Frisco, CO Mar. 3-4, 2001 Bear Mountain Big Bear, CA Mar. 10-11, 2001 Northstar-at-Tahoe Truckee, CA Mar. 17-18, 2001 Crystal Mountain Crystal, WA Mar. 24-25, 2001 Mt.
