Harris Corporation Awards Harley-Davidson Motorcycle to BellSouth Biker

CAMARILLO, Calif.--Nov. 30, 2000--John T. Kitchen of BellSouth is the new owner of a Harley-Davidson(R) motorcycle, courtesy of Harris Corporation, an industry leader in telecommunications tools and test sets. The motorcycle was a promotional prize at the Harris booth at Outside Plant EXPO on November 9 in Nashville, Tenn.
Kitchen, a plant contract supervisor for BellSouth in the Memphis, Tenn. area, rode away with a Harley-Davidson XL 1200C Sportster(R) motorcycle after his name was randomly drawn from over 900 entries.
"I didn't really believe I'd won until I was sitting at the dealership," said Kitchen. "I've wanted a Harley-Davidson bike for a long time. This is really great."
The show had a lot to offer, even for those who didn't come away with a new motorcycle. All attendees were able to view product demonstrations on the latest advancements in technician test sets and tools. The demonstrations focusing on Harris' new TS(R)45 test set with ADSLSafe technology were particularly popular. The TS45 test set allows technicians to test the quality of the telephone service on a copper line without disrupting data service, making it ideal for line-sharing situations. Harris also demonstrated its Remote Verification System (RVS), which allows service providers to automatically update their outside plant databases, and the NetBoss(TM) network management system, the industry's first integrated communications management solution.
"This year's OSP EXPO was a great show for us," said Steve Coker, director of the Tools and Test Sets business unit for the Harris Network Support Division. "We had the opportunity to demonstrate our products to a large audience, and the Harley(R) motorcycle promotion made everything really exciting. We all had a lot of fun."
Harris' Network Support Division (NSD) delivers solutions to public and private communications service providers around the world. NSD's solutions focus on the needs of operations, maintenance, and installation professionals in deregulated telecommunications markets worldwide, by providing next level line test and network management systems, as well as test sets and tools.
