Lincoln Mercury Joins Edmunds.com's PowerShopper Service
SANTA MONICA, Calif., Nov. 29 Edmunds.com, Inc.,
http://www.edmunds.com, the Web's leading consumer resource for unbiased automotive
information, today announced a partnership with Lincoln Mercury that further
enables consumers to make educated decisions about their auto purchases.
"Smart auto manufacturers and dealers understand that serious shoppers
tend to go to the Web before making a purchase," said Peter Steinlauf,
Edmunds' Chief Executive Officer. "By partnering with a trusted organization
like Edmunds.com, they can receive qualified leads and close their sales more
quickly with greater customer satisfaction."
Through the Edmunds.com's PowerShopper service, car shoppers get immediate
access to online and offline purchase options in the informative,
consumer-friendly environment of the Edmunds web site. Edmunds details the
specific steps of the buying process for each of the PowerShopper partners so
that car shoppers can compare and select the method most comfortable for them.
When ready, car shoppers are seamlessly transferred directly to the
transaction partner of their choice. Consumers who select Lincoln Mercury
Personal Consultant will be connected with a service through which Lincoln
Mercury product specialists contact a dealer on behalf of the consumer
regarding the purchase of a vehicle. For added shopper convenience, Edmunds
has also included a link from its Lincoln and Mercury vehicle detail pages to
the Personal Consultant.
"We're excited to be linked to one of the best-known automotive
information online sites," said Randy Berlin, Lincoln Mercury Internet
programs manager. "By being able to provide direct access to our Personal
Consultant service through Edmunds.com, customers and dealers can participate
in a more user-friendly, satisfying shopping and sales experience."
In addition to this new partner, Edmunds.com's PowerShopper features
Autobytel, CarsDirect, DriveOff, GM BuyPower, LiquidPrice.com, MSN CarPoint,
and Sonic Automotive.
Participating companies were selected based on several criteria, including
their ability to provide a service of value to consumers, their current or
expected ability to service a broad geographic area, and their technical
infrastructure. Shoppers can directly verify whether Edmunds.com's
PowerShopper partners meet these qualifications by visiting Edmunds.com's Town
Hall, a forum in which consumer comments on automotive products, services
(including Edmunds.com's PowerShopper) and news are posted.
