InfoCast Provides Infrastructure For First Online Automotive Repair Portal; Mechanics Receive Mentor-Based Repair Procedures Right in Service Bay
TUCSON, Ariz.--Nov. 28, 2000--InfoCast Corp., (OTCBB:IFCC) an e-enabling service provider, Tuesday announced the recent addition of ATC Technologies Corp. to its growing roster of clients.Through the power of InfoCast Hosting's infrastructure, ATC Technologies Corp. (CDNX: ATE) has created the autoWEBtech Productivity Portal(TM) for the U.S. automotive repair aftermarket.
autoWEBtech delivers real-time engine diagnostics, technical service information and mentor-based repair procedures for all major makes of automobiles, directly into the hands of the automotive technician. The objective of this productivity portal is to help garage owners and mechanics repair cars on the first attempt and at a fair price. InfoCast's Hosting Division provides ATC with the infrastructure required to deliver this service through the Internet to mechanics and garage owners throughout North America.
According to the 1999 Babcox Internet Report, the number of aftermarket automotive businesses that used the Internet was 62 percent, an increase of 48 percent since 1996. Of that 62 percent, 36 percent used the Web for training information and 52 percent used the Web for auto repair information.
"With exceptional growth occurring in this market, we are excited to be involved with such an important solution for the automotive repair industry. As the technology partner in this initiative, our Hosting Division offers ATC Technologies the architecture and infrastructure expertise they need to get autoWEBtech up and running," noted Jim Leech, CEO of InfoCast.
"We recognize that today a company is only as good as its ability to offer an application securely, reliably and with the ability to scale as rapidly as needed," said Dale Bishop president of ATC. "Utilizing the Infocast Hosting solution ensures these needs are well looked after, allowing ATC to focus on what it does best -- helping mechanics work faster and smarter."
"Computers now control the majority of functions in a typical vehicle," continued Bishop. "While computer technology makes cars run more efficiently, it makes finding the trouble source through traditional channels, an increasingly complex procedure."
autoWEBtech simplifies the repair process. It uses the InfoCast Hosting infrastructure to send information to a PC in the garage, which is then transmitted to a wireless, voice activated, tablet-sized computer, in the service bay.
The major breakthrough technology of this product is its ability to mentor the mechanic through complex diagnostic and repair procedures. Mechanics will no longer need to leave the repair bay to search for technical repair processes; autoWEBtech will automatically supply the information, resulting in faster repairs and higher profitability.
