New Toy Electric Scooter Unveiled Just in Time for the HolidaysSEBASTOPOL, Calif., Nov. 27 Now smaller children can jump feet first onto the electric scooter craze sweeping the nation. Electric transportation developer ZAPWORLD.COM today unveiled a new toy electric scooter called ZAPPY Jr., modeled after its famous scooter for adults. ZAPWORLD.COM (ZAP), which also manufactures electric bicycles and motorcycles, first designed the ZAPPY folding electric scooter in 1997. While ZAP originally intended the ZAPPY as transportation, many people, kids especially, were using it as recreation. With the recent popularity of push scooters, ZAP's designers were convinced there would be a strong demand for a toy version of the ZAPPY. "While the ZAPPY can be used by many different ages, we wanted a scooter that was slower and safer for kids ages six to 9," said ZAP Chief Engineer Scott Cronk. "With a top-speed of 8 MPH, a hand brake, and a molded plastic body, ZAPPY Jr. is specifically designed to be a toy for kids, not for adults. Like all scooters, parents should always supervise their children and make them wear a helmet." Cronk says ZAPPY Jr. is easier to ride than a skateboard and even works like a regular push scooter. To ride it, put one foot on the scooter, kick off, pull the throttle, and -- ZAP! -- you're off to the races. Electric power makes it clean and quiet. To recharge, just plug into any normal household outlet. Batteries and charger included.
