October Breaks Bidder and Consignment Records With a Total Increase of 159 Percent for the Barrett-Jackson 2001 January Auction

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--Nov. 27, 2000--The 30th anniversary celebration of the Barrett-Jackson Auction, this Jan. 17-23, 2001 has started early with October figures reflecting a significant increase in bidders and consignors percentages from last October's figures by 159 percent.
Individually the percentages of cars consigned are up nearly 170 percent and bidders have increased 180 percent. The auction company did not expect such an increase, and the momentum has not stopped, already breaking November's year to date numbers.
"We are extremely pleased by the response to the auction," stated Craig Jackson, president of Barrett-Jackson. "Last year's auction results were very significant. Over the summer the company sold about $10 million in private sales through BJ's Select Services division, which doesn't include the auctions we held in Monaco or Carlisle, Pa. We are expecting another record-breaking auction."
Some of the top 2001 Auction featured cars will be:

    No. 672 1935 Alfa Romeo Tipo C 8C-35 / 3800 Ex-Scuderia Ferrari
    No. 703 1969 Mercedes-Benz 600 LWB 6 Door - (Hugh Hefner's)
    No. 672 1969 Ford GT40 Race Car
    No. 660 1938 Mercedes-Benz 540K Cabriolet B Supercharged
No. 699 1963 Pontiac "Swiss Cheese" Catalina - (Mickey Thompson's)
