City of Portland, Oregon, Selects Schlumberger Stelio Solution for Multispace Parking Solution Trial

    AUSTIN, Texas--Nov. 21, 2000--

City Calls on Schlumberger to Demonstrate Cost-Effective Parking Solution Based On Leading Technology

Schlumberger Test & Transactions, a business segment of Schlumberger Limited , announced that the city of Portland, Oregon, has recently chosen Schlumberger Stelio(TM) parking technology for participation in a field test designed to determine what characteristics and functions might best benefit the city. The project includes replacing single space meters with Schlumberger Stelio Pay & Display and Pay by Space multispace parking terminals at selected Portland sites in the downtown area, bench testing and examination of equipment, and operational training for city staff.
"The combination of features and design were significant in our selection process for this pilot," stated Keith Ehrensing, parking manager for the city of Portland. "Our evaluation committee believes that Stelio is among the best available for leading technology which meet the demands of on street parking."
Stelio technology offers city managers improved trouble reporting via wireless application linked to a central station with a Parkfolio(TM) software package that provides data management. Additionally it offers lower power consumption via an integrated solar panel combined with a battery that recharges continuously. The user-friendly Schlumberger Stelio multispace terminal is convenient for motorists since it accepts cash, credit cards, debit cards, magnetic stripe cards and smart cards. The acceptance of these varied payment methods is also an advantage for the city, since it reduces cash handling during collections.
The trial is currently underway and is scheduled to be completed in February, 2001.
