Millennium Plastics to Launch Solplax Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor Product Line With European Distribution Partners
LAS VEGAS--Nov. 20, 2000--Millennium Plastics Corporation (OTCBB:MPCO) announced today that Solplax Limited of Ireland, a wholly owned subsidiary of Millennium Plastics, is preparing to launch its range of Solplax(TM) corrosion protection and vapor corrosion inhibitor (VCI) packaging products with its European distribution partner, Papiers Paviot of France (www.papiers-paviot.fr/org/).The Solplax(TM) launch will take place at the World Packaging Exhibition, Emballage 2000 (www.emballage2000.com) in Paris between November 20 and 24. The Solplax(TM) VCI range will be Paviot's flagship product line for a show that attracts some 250,000 visitors biannually.
Paviot is a market leader in sales and distribution of corrosion protection packaging products within France and surrounding countries, and has embraced the Solplax(TM) product as a major advance in the industry. Paviot's main corrosion protection products include VCI papers and VCI polyethylene films, which are sold to automotive industry leaders such as Peugeot and Renault and other component manufacturers as well as the steel and machinery industry.
For Millennium and its alliance partner, MetPro Ltd of Ireland (www.metpro.net), this launch is the culmination of a year of development on these VCI products. The concept of biodegradable VCI products has sparked considerable interest throughout Europe.
"MetPro and Solplax technical staff members have been working together to develop this range of value-added polymer systems at the Solplax Applications and Product Development Centre in Ireland. We are now in a position to start the active marketing of these VCI type products that includes VCI emitter plaques & balls, VCI HP Films and VCI component boxes," stated MetPro President Mr. Rick Earley.
Lionel Gally, Paviot's Protective Packaging Manager, commented, "Solplax(TM) VCI products offer clients a multi-functional item with four active benefits; namely solubility, biodegradability, high concentration corrosion protection as well as the material's highly effective desiccant properties. We are offering a more advanced level of corrosion protection using totally benign additives - a significant advantage over many products in the market today."
This new VCI product line illustrates the versatility of Solplax(TM) in the manufacture of both film and injection molded items through its patented process. General manager of Solplax Ltd, Mr. Jocelyn Carnegie said, "This project is a good example of the customer- and market-driven approach of Solplax. Here we are working very closely with European distribution partners to produce a specific product for a waiting marketplace."
Millennium Plastics Corporation owns the worldwide patent rights to a new and innovative polymer and coating technology invented in 1995 by Solplax Ltd. of Ireland. International patent attorneys in Europe and the United States have confirmed that the patent is comprehensive and durable, having been written by the developers of the technology and a scientific team with specialization in PVA polymers. Independent evaluations carried out in London and at Trinity College of Dublin have also endorsed these conclusions.
The plastics which have been developed have the unique and very marketable characteristic of being water soluble and biodigestible in landfill environments so that the only byproducts are non-toxic water and atmospheric gases. Public perception and governmental pressures for plastics that are environmentally friendly are projected to propel the commercial demand for this product.
