Volkswagen to Break Ground on New Parts Distribution Facility

Volkswagen of America, Inc. to Break Ground on New Multi-Million Dollar Parts Distribution Facility in Hazlett, Texas
    AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Nov. 20 With growing regional sales
and an expanding owner body in the southwest and west, Volkswagen of America
has announced plans to build a new Parts Distribution Center (PDC) in Texas
that will serve seven surrounding states.
    The new PDC will be constructed in the Alliance Development in Hazlett,
Texas, a suburb of Fort Worth.  The Alliance Development is a 9,600-acre,
master-planned international trade and logistic center.  Volkswagen will join
other Fortune 500 companies who are already established as Alliance customers
including: Nokia, General Mills, Ryder, John Deere, Hewlett-Packard and Kraft
Foods.  The development has many features to accommodate Volkswagen's needs
including an industrial airport and intermodal rail hub center.
    Volkswagen's developer is Hazlett's Hillwood Development Company.
Gromatzky, Dupree and Associates is designing the 360,000 square-foot building
to be Volkswagen's largest PDC in North America.  The facility will house over
85,000 part numbers on 24 acres of land in the Westport at the Alliance
Development.
