How to Convert Worthless Junk Into a Priceless Gift; American Lung Association of Oklahoma Launches Auto Donation CampaignTULSA, Okla., Nov. 20 Would you like to convert a "worthless piece of junk" into a priceless gift? The American Lung Association of Oklahoma can help you do exactly that. Kay Todd, president, announced today that the association's annual statewide auto donation campaign is in full swing. Needed are cars, RVs, motorcycles, boats, vans and trucks that can be sold to help fund Oklahoma programs ranging from asthma education to air quality in schools and smoking cessation. "I've heard people call their donations a worthless piece of junk," Todd said. "But to us, each and every one helps provide the priceless gift of a longer, healthier life for thousands of people. And donors often find that 'piece of junk' has more tax deduction value than it ever would as a trade- in." Last year, the campaign exceeded its goal by 15 percent. By the time this year's campaign concludes on December 31 organizers hope to increase that by 5% over last year. "Without question, lung disease is a serious problem," Todd said. "But it's kind of nice to know that we can all make a positive contribution to helping solve it by getting rid of some junk. To make a donation, one toll- free call to 1-888-300-LUNG is all it takes," she said. "We will arrange to pick up the vehicle, evaluate its worth, and send the donor a tax receipt for the IRS. "It really is a very streamlined system that is good for the donor and for the people we serve."
