Jack Troyanovich International Consultant, Inc. Reveals Inner Turmoil Of Multinational Business in Transplant
A Saga From the Auto Industry

TROY, Mich., Nov. 20 A Saga From the Auto Industry, a
novel by Jack Troyanovich, zeroes in on intercultural conflict that can
destroy a business in the era of global commerce. Had Robert Eaton (former
Chairman of Chrysler Corporation) read it before entering into negotiations
with Juergen Schrempp (Chairman of Daimler Chrysler), Chrysler may still be an
independent, American automobile manufacturer. Available at Barnes & Noble,
Borders Book Stores and online at iuniverse.com. "Schrempp has painted
himself into corner with U.S. employees," trumpeted the disturbing headline of
an article written for the November 7, 2000 Detroit News by Daniel Howes. The
article continues: 'If I had gone and said Chrysler would be a division,
everybody on their side would have said, There is no way we'll do a deal,'
Schrempp told the Financial Times. 'But it's precisely what I wanted to do.'
"Those 34 words have created a massive employee relations problem for
Daimler Chrysler. From headquarters in Auburn Hills to the Warren Stamping
plant and the Jeep development center in Detroit, Schrempp has virtually
destroyed any support he may have had within the Chrysler Group and
complicated Chrysler President James P. Holden's effort to turn Chrysler
around," writes Howes.
Holden was fired by Schrempp on Sunday, November 12.
Transplant is the story of a bored, forty-year-old professor, who seeks
the adventure of a second career with a German company attempting to establish
a manufacturing base in the United States. His colorful story spans three
continents and the men and women of three distinct cultures. He experiences
many adventures as he is called upon to solve problems caused by the mistrust
and misunderstandings of a company consisting of the prejudiced provincials of
Germany and the United States. Although he gives a respectable account of
himself, he soon finds himself in the no-man's land between the Germans and
the Americans. As different as the two sides are, they have one, powerful
instinct in common: the territorial nature of primitive, and not-so-primitive
man.
Thomas J. Drozda, Group Vice President, Cahners Business Information,
writes, in a review of Transplant: "An intellectually colorful and often
touching personal account that reflects the author's life-long study of
language and unique insights into human nature in the business world,
Troyanovich's story provides a useful study of the painful rationalization of
personal integrity in pursuit of corporate objectives."
Jack Troyanovich (Trojanowicz) was born in Bay City, Michigan. He has a
Ph.D. from Michigan State University, has been a Professor at MSU and the
University of Kansas, a Senior Project Engineer and Purchasing Agent at
Volkswagen, a Quality Specialist at Chrysler and an Independent Consultant.
He has published over forty other works, including articles, books, a short
story, poems and another novel, entitled October Snow. The author is
available for book signings and interviews. Contact him at
