Volkswagen Selects Peregrine Systems(R) to Support Automaker's Global e-ProcurementBest-in-Industry e-Catalog Software and Content Management Services Drive Procurement Savings SAN DIEGO, Nov. 20 Peregrine Systems, Inc. , the leading provider of Infrastructure Management software and e-Market enablement solutions, today announced that it has been selected by Volkswagen AG, the fourth largest automotive supplier in the world, to provide an electronic catalog solution for the company's global e-procurement system. The Peregrine-powered solution -- which will be implemented for the entire Volkswagen Group, including Audi, Skoda and Seat -- comprises catalog software, content management services and search engine capabilities. "Peregrine's catalog services will help Volkswagen post catalogs, aggregate data from its entire trading community and then manage that data for posting in its global e-procurement system," said Klaus Osterloh, Manager of the B2B-Project Catalog Purchasing at Volkswagen. "We are excited about our new Peregrine-powered catalog solution and content services. Peregrine will not only help us move our purchasing to the next level of e-Procurement, but it will ensure the integrity of our data. In e-Procurement, if you can't find precise catalog items within a catalog, you can't close a purchase, nor can you reap the full benefit from e-trading on the Net." Volkswagen suppliers send their data to the Peregrine Get2Connect.net(SM) e-Commerce portal where the information is transformed, validated and consolidated. The converted data is subsequently sent to Volkswagen. The Gatekeeper tool provided by Peregrine enables the purchasing department at Volkswagen to verify and proofread the data sent by the suppliers. After individual items are either accepted or rejected, they are sent to the internal catalog to be used for optimal searches. "We are proud to be teaming with Volkswagen to provide the industry's leading catalog software solution and content management services," said Gregor Gobel, Peregrine director of Product Management in Europe, Middle East and Asia. "As trading communities move towards e-Procurement, we're seeing greater demand for content management. This is an important piece of the e-Procurement puzzle and it takes a proven methodology to get it done. Catalog content is a fundamental necessity to realizing true e-fficiencies."
