PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- AMA Tours has added a new domestic motorcycle tour which combines some of the best motorcycling roads in the U.S. with two very different racing events. The April 27th through May 6th Sonomafest West Coast Quest offers participants the chance to experience a unique combination of motorcycle history, racing and riding in California. "In creating the Sonomafest West Coast Quest tour, our goal was to provide a motorcycle touring and spectator experience that combines professional racing, vintage events and organized tours," said Frank Covucci, Director of AMA Travel & Tours. "We're excited that this tour offers something for nearly every kind of motorcycling enthusiast." The tour starts on the weekend of April 27, 2001 during AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days West at Sonoma's Sears Point Raceway. Indian will be the featured marque at the event, known for its vendor midway, American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association vintage racing, manufacturer demo rides, motorcycle shows and seminars. Immediately following the Vintage Days weekend, the tour will depart for five days of riding that includes California's Napa Valley region and the famous Pacific Coast Highway?arguably some of the best riding in the continental United States. The tour returns to Sears Point May 5 for the AMA Chevy Trucks U.S. Superbike Championship. As is the case with all AMA spectator racing packages, tour participants will receive full pit and paddock access during the Superbike weekend and an exclusive behind the scenes pit tour conducted by AMA Pro Racing officials. The Sonomafest West Coast Quest, planned with the assistance of Mad Maps (www.madmaps.com), joins the AMA's existing tours to the Canadian Maritimes, the Alps, England and the Isle of Man, the U.S. southwest, the Blue Ridge/Smoky Mountains, South Africa and New Zealand.
