Ward's Reports Estimated Production
    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Nov. 17 Vehicle production this week in
the U.S., Canada and Mexico is expected to hit an estimated 313,036 units,
down from the 337,373 cars and trucks built last week, according to Ward's
Automotive Reports.
    Including this week's estimates, calendar year North American output now
totals 16,113,560 vehicles, up 1.4 percent from like-1999's pace.
    In the U.S., automakers are expected to produce 209,404 vehicles this
week, a decrease of 13.6 percent from the 242,412 cars and trucks built last
week.  To date, calendar 2000 U.S. vehicle output totals an estimated
11,696,697 units, down 0.7 percent from the 11,773,942 vehicles built in
like-1999.
    This week's Canadian vehicle production is estimated at 63,171, a
19.7 percent increase from the 52,753 units assembled last week.  Estimated
calendar-2000 Canadian vehicle production now stands at 2,688,221 units, down
1.6 percent compared to the 2,730,843 vehicles produced in like-1999.
    Of the cars and trucks slated for production this week in the U.S.,
General Motors Corp. accounted for 31.4 percent; Ford Motor Co., 27.1 percent;
Chrysler of DaimlerChrysler, 12.3 percent; Honda of America Mfg. Inc.,
6.3 percent; Toyota Motor Mfg. Inc., 6.1 percent; Nissan Motor Mfg. Corp.,
3.9 percent; New United Motor Mfg. Inc., 3.5 percent; Subaru-Isuzu Automotive
Inc., 2.1 percent; Mitsubishi Motor Mfg. of America Inc., 2.4 percent;
AutoAlliance International Inc., 0.8 percent; Mercedes-Benz U.S. of
DaimlerChrysler, 1.0 percent; BMW of North America Inc., 1.0 percent; and
other manufacturers, 2.1 percent.
