Delphi Receives Employee Workplace AwardTROY, Mich., Nov. 17 Delphi Automotive Systems was recently named a winner of the Today's Workplace of Tomorrow Award for 2000 by the Detroit Women's Economic Club. Delphi's J. T. Battenberg III, chairman, chief executive officer and president, accepted the award on behalf of Delphi's 216,000 worldwide employees. "We are honored to be the only automotive supplier recognized as an exciting place for employees to work," said Battenberg. "Delphi has worked hard on establishing a new culture which builds on our reputation for being innovative and allows employees to excel in a challenging work environment. We still think of Delphi as a young company. After separation from General Motors in 1999, we placed establishing a unique Delphi culture among our primary business goals. This award is welcome recognition of our efforts to create that special working environment." The awards were presented at a luncheon held Nov. 15, in Novi, Mich. Delphi was chosen for encouraging creativity and innovation through programs such as its Innovation Hall of Fame, "Boss" Kettering awards and employee suggestion programs.
