DaimlerChrysler Corporation Exceeds its United Way Contribution Goal by 12.8 PercentCompany Contributes $3.2 Million to the 2000 Campaign AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Nov. 16 DaimlerChrysler Corporation announced today that the Company, its employees and its dealers, raised $3,241,578 for the United Way's 2000 annual Torch Drive Campaign, exceeding last year by 12.8 percent. The announcement was made at the Victory Celebration luncheon held at the Detroit Marriott Renaissance Center. "DaimlerChrysler employees realize the importance of sharing their good fortune with others, so I'm especially proud of the generosity demonstrated for the United Way this year," said Kathy Oswald, DaimlerChrysler's Chief Administrative Officer. "The United Way affects all of our lives in some way, and I want to thank all of our employees who helped make this year's United Way campaign a success." DaimlerChrysler was just one of the many companies that significantly increased their contributions this year. Others included Deloitte & Touche, New Venture Gear and MSX International. The funds from DaimlerChrysler were a combination of contributions from the hourly and management employees in metro Detroit, the 2000 Automotive Challenge Match, the DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund and the Dodge Dealer's Association pledge. In addition, the Southeast Michigan Jeep(R) Dealer's Association is donating $50 for each new Jeep vehicle sold between the Christmas and the New Year holiday period. Funds from the United Way campaign will be allocated to more than 130 health and human service agencies in Detroit, as well as in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.
