STP and Richard Petty to Continue Relationship Into 30th Season
        STP and Petty Announce New Sponsorship Deal Prior to NAPA 500;
Petty Crew Chiefs to Introduce Engine Maintenance Program in 2001

ATLANTA, Nov. 16 The STP Products Company today announced
it would continue its relationship with Petty Enterprises by becoming a Team
Sponsor for the 2001 and 2002 NASCAR seasons. The agreement will extend the
longest-running motorsports sponsorship into its 30th and 31st years. The STP
and Petty Enterprises relationship started in 1972 when STP signed on as
Richard Petty's primary sponsor.
"Our association with Richard Petty over the past 30 years has contributed
tremendously to the growth of our brand," said STP Vice President of Auto Care
Marketing Dan Dahlgren. "The association between Richard and STP definitely
has an important place in motorsports and NASCAR history. Next year, we hope
to take our relationship a step further by launching a joint engine
maintenance education campaign."
STP and Petty Enterprises will join forces to introduce a national program
designed to educate Americans about automobile engine maintenance. The
program, a joint effort between "The King," STP and Petty Enterprises' crew
chiefs, is scheduled to kick-off in early 2001 and continue throughout the
2001 NASCAR season.
The new sponsorship agreement will make 2001 the 30th consecutive season
that Richard Petty had been affiliated with STP. Petty is arguably the most
popular and accomplished driver in the U.S. Petty has captured more records
than any other NASCAR driver, including 200 career wins, more than 1,100
career starts and 27 victories in one season. The latter record for wins
included a streak of 10 in a row. Petty retired after the 1992 season with
more than $7.7 million in career earnings.
In 2001, Petty Enterprises will field three NASCAR Winston Cup teams:
John Andretti's No. 43 Cheerios/Betty Crocker Dodge Intrepid R/T, Kyle Petty's
No. 45 Sprint Dodge Intrepid R/T and Buckshot's No. 44 Georgia-Pacific Dodge
Intrepid R/T. In addition, Petty Enterprises will field a NASCAR Craftsman
Truck team.
