 Avis Rent A Car is Launching Full Color Magazine Covering Local Attractions,
       Amenities and Filled With Helpful Travel Tips for Avis Customers

    GARDEN CITY, N.Y., Nov. 15 With the launch early next year
of "Avis Traveler," a new, full color travel guide customized for each
destination, Avis Rent A Car customers arriving in any of 21 U.S. regions will
get immediate information on local attractions and amenities even before they
arrive at a hotel or have a chance to access information online.  View a

    The 16-page magazine -- announced today and expected to have a total
readership well over 4 million -- will feature articles on each locale,
including valuable information such as restaurants, tourist attractions and
nightlife, as well as local maps.  It will be more comprehensive, more
engaging and will contain more detailed information than the maps currently
available to customers at Avis rental locations.
    "We see 'Avis Traveler' as yet another way that Avis Rent A Car is
differentiating itself from the competition by helping customers to reduce the
stress of business or leisure travel," said F. Robert Salerno, Avis Group
Holdings President and Chief Operating Officer, Rental Car Group.  "At one
time or another, we've all had the anxiety of arriving in a strange city and
wondering how to get to our hotel, where to eat, and how to find other local
attractions and amenities.  'Avis Traveler' will be especially valuable for
customers who prefer not to wait for the local guides available at their
hotel, and for other travelers -- especially those on vacation -- who may not
have the equipment or time to access online information sources.  With 'Avis
Traveler,' the information will be at their fingertips even before they leave
our facilities."
    Avis expects to distribute about 1.3 million copies of "Avis Traveler" in
these 21 markets nationwide: Atlanta, the San Francisco Bay Area, Boston,
Chicago, Colorado, Dallas, Detroit, the Metropolitan New York Area, Houston,
New Orleans, Northern Ohio, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh,
Seattle, Southern California, South Florida, St. Louis, Tampa, and the Twin
Cities of Minneapolis-St. Paul.
    The new magazine, to be updated twice a year and featuring national
advertising to support its circulation, is being published by Wieland
Communications, an Atlanta-based publisher of relocation guides and maps.  The
Company estimates conservatively that "Avis Traveler" will enjoy
an adult "pass along" readership base of over 4.4 million.  At a rate of
$60,000 for a four color advertising page, "Avis Traveler" projects an adult
reader cost per thousand of less than $14, even more efficient than the
traditional national business magazines or the in-flight magazines known for
