iStarXchange Appoints Chief Technology Officer; Jeff Smith to Oversee Ongoing Development of Automotive Aftermarket Industry's Premier B2B Exchange
IRVINE, Calif.--Nov. 14, 2000--iStarXchange, the B2B e-marketplace connecting the entire automotive replacement parts supply chain, Tuesday announced the appointment of Jeff Smith as chief technology officer.Smith will oversee all areas of technology development and integration with customer supply chain systems.

For the past 16 years, Smith has led the technology and business development efforts for several companies. Most recently, he served as the senior vice president and general manager of IT Solutions' Western Region, which accounted for 85% of that company's revenue.
Smith led finance, sales and marketing, delivery resources and business development for the region and had responsibility for profit and loss, cash flow and balance sheet commitments in the region. As part of his role, Smith served as interim CTO at key client companies, including Patent and License Exchange, a company that provides forward and reverse auctions for intellectual property.
Prior to joining IT Solutions, Smith was chief information officer and vice president of global information systems and technology at Allied Signal, Turbocharging Systems -- an automotive division of the company. There, Smith managed worldwide information systems initiatives, personnel and business process design in 20 manufacturing locations located in 12 countries around the world.
Smith earned an MBA in 1988 from San Jose State University in San Jose, Calif. He received a BS, Applied Science and minor in Systems Analysis in 1984 from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Smith served on the board of directors of Go Invest Corp. in 1999 and currently serves on the board of directors at Genesistank, where he is the acting CTO for the incubator's subsidiaries.
