Visteon Sponsors 'The Hunger Site' to Help Feed Hungry ChildrenDEARBORN, Mich., Nov. 13 Visteon Corporation , a global leader in developing technology solutions for automotive manufacturers, is sponsoring a unique, high-tech effort to help feed hungry children around the world. During the weeks of Nov. 13-19 and Dec. 4-10, The Visteon "See the possibilities(TM)" Fund will be a sponsor of The Hunger Site (http://www.thehungersite.com ), an online vehicle for triggering corporate donations to the United Nations World Food Programme, Mercy Corps and America's Second Harvest. By visiting the Visteon Web site (http://www.visteon.com ), "donors" can link to The Hunger Site and "click" to donate one cup of food for the hungry. Donors can visit the site once a day, and each donation will be paid for by Visteon. "We're asking our employees, suppliers, customers -- anyone who would like to help feed the hungry -- to visit our Web site each day next week and donate," said Susan Skerker, senior vice president of Visteon Business Strategy and Corporate Relations. "We believe The Hunger Site is a great way to use technology to help others, and we applaud its innovation." According to The United Nations Hunger Project, about 24,000 people die every day from hunger or hunger-related causes. Three-fourths of the deaths are children under the age of five. The Hunger Site is the world's first "click-to-donate" Web site where so far, 101 million visitors have donated more than 198 million cups of food to help feed the hungry. The donations are paid for by The Hunger Site's sponsors, and are distributed to those in need by the United Nations World Food Programme, Mercy Corps and America's Second Harvest. Donations go to help people in more than 80 countries, including those in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, the Mid East, Latin America and North America. "Visteon's 'See the possibilities(TM)' Fund is about supporting communities where we live and work," added Skerker. "Sponsoring this initiative is important because it focuses on meeting the needs of children -- a key ingredient in shaping the future of our global community." The Visteon "See the possibilities(TM)" Fund was created in 1999 to enrich the lives of children and improve our environment by supporting local, community based organizations that recognize and meet the needs of their communities. The Fund is now active in 18 countries, and more than 68 teams of employees around the world are empowered by Visteon to make funding decisions to support worthy organizations in their community.
