America Online Inc., , the world's leading interactive services company, today announced a new sweepstakes contest where users who install AOL 6.0, the powerful new version of its convenient, easy-to-use software, can win one of six Volvo S60s, Volvo's new sophisticated European sedan that marries sporty performance with state-of-the-art safety.
Launched last month, AOL 6.0 is the newest version of the world's most popular online service that is designed to help members better manage their daily lives by delivering new levels of convenience and ease-of-use. AOL's 6.0 software combines user-friendly functionality with new conveniences and a redesigned look-and-feel that highlights the most popular features and content on the AOL service. This new version also features the launch of AOL's new Autos Channel.
America Online members who install or download AOL 6.0 are eligible to win one of six new Volvo S60s, which debuted in showrooms November 1st. Both current AOL members who upgrade to 6.0 and new AOL members can access the sweepstakes through AOL Keyword: 6.0 Sweepstakes and complete the online entry form. Members can also enter by printing their name, address, phone number, and screen name on a 3-1/2" by 5" card and sending to AOL 6.0 Volvo Sweepstakes, P.O. Box 77626, San Francisco, CA 94107. The deadline for online entries is 11:59 PM ET December 12, 2000. Write-in entries must be postmarked by December 13, 2000 and received by December 19, 2000 to be eligible for the prize drawing. Winners will be randomly selected. Winners are responsible for taxes, title, registration, insurance and destination fees.
Known as one of the safest cars made in the world today, the S60 model continues the Volvo tradition as a sophisticated European sedan combining sporty performance with one-of-a-kind safety features. Built on the highly successful platform that is the basis for the elegant S80 sedan, the S60 adopts exquisite styling in a mid-sized sedan.
Volvo Cars of North America, part of the Volvo Car Corporation of Sweden and wholly owned subsidiary of The Ford Motor Company, has chosen AOL as its sole national electronic marketing partner this year for its new S60 sedan and is offering AOL members an exclusive, custom accessories package worth up to $2,100 at no additional cost when they purchase the S60. This revolutionary marketing relationship represents the world's first digital car launch and is in response to a growing trend of consumers going online to research and buy cars. According to the Roper/Starch Cyberstudy, 62% of online users go online as part of the process of making any major purchases, like a car.
Joe Redling, AOL's Senior Vice-President of Brand Marketing, said, "We are always looking for ways to add new benefits for AOL members and now they have an opportunity to win the new Volvo S60 by just installing new version 6.0. Not only do they get the exclusive benefits of 6.0 and access to the new Autos Channel, a one-stop destination for car shopping, buying and maintenance, but they can drive away in one of the most sophisticated cars on the market."
"Volvo has long recognized the powerful influence that the Web has on informed auto buyers' decisions," said Mark LaNeve, President and CEO, Volvo Cars of North America. "Our latest innovation is to join with AOL for a digital car launch designed around the Internet's leading interactive destination."
