Genuine Parts Company Successfully Establishes Industry's Largest Network of Web-enabled Repair Shops
ATLANTA--Nov. 7, 2000--Genuine Parts Company , the industry leading distributor of automotive, industrial, office and electrical/electronic replacement parts, announced today that it has commercially released Web sites for nearly 10,000 NAPA AutoCare Centers.
This represents the completion of another major step in the execution of Genuine Parts Company's online strategy, and builds upon the successful launch of NAPAonline.com earlier this year.
Independently owned and operated, NAPA AutoCare Centers offer a wide range of vehicle maintenance and repair service. To qualify for membership, they are required to adhere to a strict code of ethics, employ ASE-certified technicians and offer a nationwide "Peace of Mind" 12 months/12,000 miles warranty.
NAPA AutoCare Centers now represent the largest online network of repair shops in the industry, with web sites hosted at NAPAonline.com and powered by CarStation's OnStation Technology(TM). NAPAonline visitors can locate a NAPA repair facility and view a comprehensive facility Web site that includes information on shop hours, types of automotive services offered and certification information and live links to organizations such as the National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). The network also provides NAPA AutoCare Centers with email systems to facilitate customer and business partner communications.
"In addition to generating Internet sales, these Web sites will drive traffic to NAPA AUTO PARTS stores and provide consumers with a fast and easy way to find a NAPA AutoCare Center," said Robert McKenna, President of GPC's U.S. Automotive Parts Group. "Having a Web presence will enable NAPA to enhance customer service and offer consumers the information they need to make vehicle care decisions."
The robust and flexible design of CarStation's OnStation Technology(TM) enabled Genuine Parts Company to rapidly deploy custom Web sites for its NAPA AutoCare Centers, while enhancing and preserving NAPA's strong brand within the automotive aftermarket.
"Today's announcement demonstrates CarStation's focus on rapidly and effectively implementing Internet-based channel management solutions for our automotive aftermarket partners," said CarStation President and Founder Charlie Moore. "We are proud to be working with Genuine Parts Company to bring the industry-leading network online."
"CarStation's demonstrated excellence in the delivery and implementation of its technology has resulted in our achieving better-than-expected time to market, and will result in success and immediate rewards for all of our companies and customers," said Steve Handschuh, President of NAPA.
