Martin Named NTE's SVP of Sales & marketing
DOWNERS GROVE, Ill.--Nov. 6, 2000--NTE, formerly called the National Transportation Exchange, has announced the appointment of John Martin as its senior vice president of sales & marketing, effective immediately. Martin previously was senior vice president of global supply chain management at BAX Global, a $2-billion multi-modal freight forwarding company.As a member of NTE's senior leadership team, Martin will be responsible for driving revenue growth, expanding NTE's base of shippers and carriers who transact in its e-marketplace, and strengthening NTE's brand positioning.
"John is an accomplished leader with an impressive track record in e-commerce, transportation services, supply chain management and logistics," said James Davidson, NTE's president and chief executive officer, to whom Martin will report. "His deep domain experience, proficiency in using technology to solve business issues, and acute focus on doing what's right for customers will help take NTE to the next level of success. Under Martin, NTE has consolidated the reporting and management structure of its sales and marketing organizations.

While at BAX Global, Martin spearheaded development of its supply chain management division, which had $500 million in annual revenue from businesses in 45 countries. He oversaw all of its logistics systems, including optimization, warehousing, web-based procurement, e-commerce and Internet inventory management.
Prior to joining BAX in 1995, Martin was vice president of customized logistics services at North American Van Lines, where he was executive sponsor for major programs with some of America's largest corporations, including Apple, Digital, Dell and IBM. Earlier in his career he was director of the executive sales group at Skyway Freight Systems and national account manager for American Airlines.
Martin served in the U.S. Marine Corps' supply administration and logistics group. He has a bachelor of arts degree in transportation economics from the University of Illinois at Champaign.
