4 November 2000
PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- Motorcycle racing legend Gary Nixon will be the guest of honor at the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) Will Stoner Vintage Motorcycle Swapmeet and Show on Sunday, November 12 at the Richland County Fairgrounds in Mansfield, Ohio. The swap meet will feature vendors from as far away as New Hampshire, Iowa and Georgia selling motorcycles, parts, literature and memorabilia. Now in their twelfth year, AMA Will Stoner Swapmeets have earned a reputation as the best places for enthusiasts to unearth that special part, long sought-after manual, or priceless bit of advice. As part of the swap meet, two-time AMA Grand National Champion will pick the "Nixon's Choice" winner in the bike show. He will also sign autographs and visit with fans from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Fair Haven Hall. Nixon won the Daytona 200 in 1967 and nearly won the International Formula 750 Championship in 1976. As an added feature, several motorcycles from the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum will be on display. Among the machines will be a factory Triumph like the one Nixon rode to victory at Daytona and the Kawasaki KR 750 he rode in 1976. Vintage motorcycle enthusiasts can expect to see Harley-Davidsons, Triumphs, Indians, Ducatis and many other famous marques at the swap meet's bike show. The juried show will feature classic 1980 and older machines from Europe, Great Britain, America and Japan in more than 15 different classes. Show hours are from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is $6.00 for non AMA members and $5.00 for AMA and AMCA members. Children under 12 are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Parking is free.
