Ward's Reports Estimated Production
    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Nov. 3 Vehicle production this week in
the U.S., Canada and Mexico is expected to hit an estimated 325,145 units,
down from the 375,173 cars and trucks built last week, according to Ward's
Automotive Reports.
    Including this week's estimates, calendar year North American output now
totals 15,459,373 vehicles, up 1.9 percent from like-1999's pace.
    In the U.S., automakers are expected to produce 234,067 vehicles this
week, a decrease of 12.9 percent from the 268,780 cars and trucks built last
week.  To date, calendar 2000 U.S. vehicle output totals an estimated
11,241,397 units, virtually unchanged from the 11,246,387 vehicles built in
like-1999.
    This week's Canadian vehicle production is estimated at 50,392, a 22.1
percent decrease from the 64,695 units assembled last week.  Estimated
calendar-2000 Canadian vehicle production now stands at 2,571,428 units, down
0.9 percent compared to the 2,595,291 vehicles produced in like-1999.
    Of the cars and trucks slated for production this week in the U.S.,
General Motors Corp. accounted for 34.6 percent; Ford Motor Co., 35.0 percent;
Chrysler of DaimlerChrysler, 4.4 percent; Honda of America Mfg. Inc., 5.6
percent; Toyota Motor Mfg. Inc., 5.4 percent; Nissan Motor Mfg. Corp., 3.5
percent; New United Motor Mfg. Inc., 3.1 percent; Subaru-Isuzu Automotive
Inc., 2.0 percent; Mitsubishi Motor Mfg. of America Inc., 2.3 percent;
AutoAlliance International Inc., 0.9 percent; Mercedes-Benz U.S. of
DaimlerChrysler, 0.5 percent; BMW of North America Inc., 0.8 percent; and
other manufacturers, 1.9 percent.
