Ford Recognizes Hayes Lemmerz Monterrey Operations with Q1 Award
    NORTHVILLE, Mich., Nov. 3 Hayes Lemmerz International,
Inc. , a leading global supplier to the automotive and commercial
highway industries, announced today that its wholly owned automotive brakes
facility, Hayes Lemmerz International - Frenos, S.A. de C.V., located in
Monterrey, Mexico has received the distinctive Q1 Award from Ford Motor
Company.  Ford Motor Company representatives presented the award to employees
at the plant in a special ceremony on November 1.
    The Q1 Award is Ford's recognition of suppliers that have achieved a
sustained level of excellence in customer satisfaction by meeting the
automaker's requirements for quality, delivery, materials management and
engineering.  The award was established in 1981 to recognize outstanding
suppliers that demonstrate commitment and support for continuous improvement
in quality and productivity.
    Commenting on the award, Daniel Sandberg, president of Hayes Lemmerz'
Automotive Brakes business unit, said: "We are very pleased to have received
this honor from Ford.  It not only recognizes our 1999 performance, it also
demonstrates our commitment to remain a long-term partner of Ford in
developing automotive brake components.  At Hayes Lemmerz, we continuously

    The Monterrey, Mexico facility manufacturers full cast vented and solid
disc rotors, and full cast and composite brake drums for passenger cars,
minivans, sport utility vehicles and light trucks.
