Performance Sells in Jaguar's Western Region
    IRVINE, Calif., Nov. 2 Jaguar Cars Western Region today
reported that sales of the company's R performance model sedans and coupes
during October showed an increase of 37 percent over the same period last
year.  On a year-to-date basis, the performance models also are up 37 percent.
    "Jaguar's performance heritage, from the great racers of the '50s and '60s
to today's R performance models, is in the blood of every car we build," said
Doug Speck, Western Regional Manager, Jaguar Cars North America.  "We're off
to a strong start to the beginning of the traditional model year, and our
partnership with dealers to market both performance and luxury is paying off."
    Leading the way in the region was the XKR Convertible high-performance
sports car with 52 units, versus 29 for the same period last year, an increase
of 79 percent.  Sales of the XKR Coupe also showed an increase, with sales of
13 units representing a 63 percent boost.
    On a year-to-date basis, both XKR models show a considerable jump in
sales, with the Convertible up over 700 percent and the Coupe up over
800 percent.
    A strong showing from the XJR high-performance luxury sport sedan of
46 units sold in October represents an increase of five percent over last
year.
    Jaguar Cars' Western Region is comprised of 32 dealers.  Based in Irvine,
Calif., it is responsible for sales, distribution and dealer marketing
activities in California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Hawaii, Arizona, New
Mexico, Colorado, Utah and western Texas.
