Nissan Division Sales Still Surpass Total Volume Last Year; Sales Decline Versus October 1999

    CARSON, Calif., Nov. 1 Sales of Nissan Division cars and
trucks last month were essentially flat compared with October last year while
year-to-date sales in 2000 continue to outpace those of 1999.
    Sales for October 2000 amounted to 50,985 units, down a slim 0.8 percent
compared with 51,408 units sold during the same month last year.
    Sales of 575,302 vehicles for the first 10 months of this year were
13.1 percent higher than the January-October period last year.  Nissan truck
sales for the first 10 months of 2000 amounted to 264,062 vehicles, up
27.9 percent compared with 1999, and car sales for the year totaled
311,240, up 3 percent.
    The Frontier pickup led Nissan truck sales in October with sales of
8,190 units, a 15 percent decrease compared with October of 1999.  Year-to-
date Frontier sales, however, totaled 91,926, 17 percent ahead of sales at the
same time last year.

    Other sales highlights include:
    --  Sentra sales of 9,749
    --  Altima sales of 9,597
    --  Maxima sales of 10,443
    --  Frontier sales of 8,190
    --  Pathfinder sales of 4,567
    --  Quest sales of 2,041
    --  Xterra sales of  6,575
