October Sales Tops Mitsubishi Motors' 1999 Full-Year Record; Best Ten-Months in Company's 18-year History

    CYPRESS, Calif., Nov. 1 Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America,
Inc. (MMSA) today reported October sales of 23,574 units, resulting in 2000
calendar year-to-date sales topping the company's record sales results for all
of 1999.  October's calendar-year-to-date sales for 2000 reached 263,690
vehicles, 28.1% over the same ten-month period last year.  October's sales
were down 3.7% from 1999's best-ever October in company's history.
    "This October broke sales records for Eclipse Spyder and Montero, which
were just awarded 'Best Buys' from Consumer's Digest," said Pierre Gagnon,
MMSA executive vice president and chief operating officer.  "A strong line-up
of products and a firm commitment toward quality and customer satisfaction
also have made a big difference for us this year."

    Mitsubishi Achievements of Note:

     -- Best ten-months in the company's 18-year history
     -- Best-ever October for Eclipse Spyder, with 1,461 vehicles sold, up
        564.1% from October last year
     -- Best-ever October for Montero, with 1,602 vehicles sold, up
        175.7% from October last year
     -- 2001 Eclipse and Montero awarded "Best Buys" from Consumer's Digest
        magazine
