Hyundai Continues Strong Sales Pace; October Sales Up 18% Over Last Year
    FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Nov. 1 Hyundai Motor America
today announced sales of 17,473 vehicles for the month of October, up
18 percent from one year ago.  On a year-to-date basis, Hyundai sales are now
up 53% over 1999 levels.  "Hyundai's sales momentum remains strong.  This
month's sales put our YTD total over the 200,000 unit barrier which we have
not exceeded since 1988," said Robert Cosmai, Vice President, Sales.
    "Elantra continues to be the volume leader for Hyundai with sales of
6,195 units in October.  Elantra sales year-to-date are up 35 percent over
last year," Cosmai said.  "Our newest addition to the sport utility segment,
Santa Fe, had a good month reporting 2,443 sales.
    "The Hyundai product line is backed by The Hyundai Advantage, America's
Best Warranty which includes our 10-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain
warranty," Cosmai added.  "In addition, our dealers continue to be focused on
the franchise and their enthusiasm for the brand is paying off with increased
sales."
