Lexus Springs Forward Into Fall: Sales Mark a New 'Best Ever' OctoberTORRANCE, Calif., Nov. 1 While clocks fell back in October, Lexus sales took a big spring forward thanks to the popular IS 300 and the launch of the flagship LS 430. Vehicle sales of 17,543 mark a new "Best Ever" October surpassing the previous record of 16,010 set in 1999 by 9.6 percent. October results bring Lexus's year-to-date total sales to 166,992 units, 8.2 percent ahead of last year's record pace. "What an exciting time to be at Lexus," said Lexus Group Vice President and General Manager Denny Clements. "The IS 300 sport sedan is sizzling and on Oct. 12 we launched the third generation of our flagship luxury sedan, the LS 430. We are well on our way to selling 200,000 in 2000." Lexus had its best LS month since May 1995 with 2,732 units sold, 2,663 of which were the new LS 430 premium luxury sedan. IS 300 monthly sales hit 2,074 for a year-to-date total of 11,443. The popular RX 300 sport utility vehicle continued to be the division's volume leader with October sales of 5,967 and year-to-date sales of 73,319 units, 24.4 percent ahead of last year. ES 300 near-luxury sedan sales were 3,183, while the GS 300 and GS 400/430 high-performance luxury sedans posted sales of 1,744 and 689 respectively.
