The Delphi logo, which is an oval with Delphi emblazoned in the middle, retains the visual characteristics of the company's corporate identity and reinforces the attributes that have made Delphi the world's largest auto supplier -- technology, quality and leadership. The UAW identification on the car recognizes the dedicated and technically skilled men and women of the UAW who manufacture high quality parts and components at Delphi operations in the U.S. The UAW-Delphi Winston Cup NASCAR partnership will generate increased awareness of the Delphi brand due to NASCAR's increasing popularity. This partnership further solidifies Delphi's commitment to maintaining a strong relationship with the UAW, and exemplifies a team-oriented approach that is valued by both organizations. "We've built a strong relationship with the UAW in the past and our mutual commitment to building Delphi awareness in the aftermarket will be integral to our successful U.S. launch and the future business opportunities for our employees. We believe the widely recognized NASCAR Winston Cup circuit is a perfect venue to gain market visibility," said Don Runkle, executive vice president, Delphi Automotive Systems. "This co-sponsorship with Delphi presents us with an excellent opportunity to showcase UAW-Delphi members' dedication to world-class quality," stated UAW president Stephen P. Yokich. "We've enjoyed a constructive relationship with Delphi for many years," said Richard Shoemaker, UAW vice president and director, GM department. "Our partnership with Delphi and Hendrick Motorsports will create a great team, dedicated to winning in the NASCAR Winston Cup and bringing increased attention to the outstanding products that the men and women of UAW-Delphi build." Further strengthening the UAW-Delphi agreement is the strong partnership that will ensue with Hendrick Motorsports, one of the world's most successful motorsports organizations with 96 NASCAR Winston Cup victories and 93 pole positions. Hendrick Motorsports is the only team to win four consecutive Winston Cup titles -- 1995, 1997 and 1998 -- with driver Jeff Gordon, and in 1996 with driver Terry Labonte. Additionally, Hendrick Motorsports won the NASCAR Craftsman Championship Truck Series in 1997 and 1999 with driver Jack Sprague. "We are thrilled to have UAW-Delphi as the primary sponsor of the #25 team. Hendrick Motorsports' success has been built on the foundation of teamwork and innovation, and these organizations absolutely embody those principles ... this is truly an ideal relationship," said Rick Hendrick, founder and CEO of Hendrick Motorsports. The UAW represents over 38,500 Delphi workers in 22 facilities throughout the U.S. Nationally, the UAW represents 1.3 million active and retired workers.
